Community

The Litzsinger Road Ecology Center draws on a strong, diverse community to serve our students and to meet our goals of promoting science teaching and learning, environmental literacy, and stewardship of the Earth.

Staff
A dedicated staff of educators and horticulturalists employed by the Missouri Botanical Garden manage educational programs, restoration, research, and site maintenance.

Volunteers
Our corps of over 25 dedicated, hard working volunteers make fulfilling our mission possible. Our volunteers traditionally have worked as either horticulture or education volunteers, but new volunteers have begun bridging the gap.

Teachers and Students
Classes conduct field studies through the school year. Teachers and students come to LREC from throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Students typically range from kindergarten to eighth grade.

Newsletters
LREC produces a monthly newsletter September through June. An archive of past issues is also available.

Community Blog
Our staff, volunteers, and participating teachers may post to this weblog to share information about the site and programs. Postings include wildlife sightings, daily events, photos, and links to websites of interest.

Calendar
The calendar is regularly updated to reflect scheduled school group visits and community events.
