Introducing our Summer Interns

Akiva and LexiHi, my name is Akiva Zeff. I’m a rising senior at Boston University, majoring in biology with a concentration in ecology and conservation biology. This summer, I’m working on a project that investigates the use of algae as an indicator of water quality in Deer Creek. More specifically, it follows up on Caity’s 2019 algae survey to assess the effects of the Project Clear pathway on Deer Creek. I’m enjoying the opportunity to get more practical outdoor experience, particularly in plant ID!

Hi, my name is Lexi Baiter, and I just graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with an environmental science degree. I am interested in ecology, especially woodland habitat management and restoration! I am very excited to work with the team at Litzsinger and improve on my plant identification and landscape management skills. My independent project is investigating if scattered coarse woody debris, wood pieces on the ground with a diameter greater than three inches, have an effect on what species forage or live in the brush piles on the property.
