In Memoriam: Sharon Pedersen

Sharon Pedersen passed away last week at the age of 73. She volunteered at many organizations throughout her life, but I have to think we were her favorite.

She utilized her expertise as a reference librarian while volunteering with Nancy Solodar at the Green Center, cataloging, labeling, and organizing their collection of nature subjects and gardening. In her sixties, she volunteered in the Peace Corps and traveled to China to teach English in Szechuan Province. She held four Masters Degrees.

Over the past 6 years, she worked at home, converting her lawn into spectacular native specimen gardens, viewed by many horticulture classes and garden club groups.

She volunteered at LREC for thirteen years in both education and horticulture. Thank you, Sharon, for all you brought to us and everyone you touched.
