Hi, my name is Karen Schmiedeler, and I am a junior at SLU studying biology. I am excited to be working at Litzsinger this summer and learning more about ecology! I am particularly interested in woodlands, prairies, and restoration. For my research project, I will be collecting seeds to plant in the area damaged by the MSD pipeline to start the process of prairie reconstruction. I will also be compiling an iNaturalist seed guide of the species I collect.
Hi, my name is Cicely Krutzsch, and I am a fourth-year biology major at Grinnell College. I am interested in ecology, and more specifically, plants and insects. I’m excited to work outside, get better at identifying plants, and learn different restoration methods. My independent project is comparing the plant composition of the MSD pipeline path units, and I’m looking forward to investigating any differences I find!
