Going to LREC weekly, I cannot help but see nature taking over every inch of the property. From the honeysuckle sneaking in everywhere, to the mad dash of the fleabane to find a place in the brickwork, to the mice finding shelter in our office, it’s apparent that we are not in control right now, and somehow (except for the honeysuckle) that’s okay. It’s incredibly interesting to witness nature on its own terms.
But…I also see the native plants glowing and growing and saying “Don’t worry about us, we’ll be here when you return”. So here are a few pics from the other day. Enjoy!
Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica)
Woodland spiderwort (Tradescantia ernestiana)
Sensitive fern (Onoclea sensibillis)
Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis). Never seems to quit!!!
Texas green-eyes (Berlandiera texana). Just starting to bloom. Great garden plant.
Foxglove beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis) and ostrich fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris)
Hairy woodmint (Blephilia hirsuta)
Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea). Just beginning its bloom time!
Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica). Every garden deserves this beautiful semi-shade plant that starts out with brilliant red blooms and then suddenly opens up to the prettiest yellow kiss.
